Seven years of GED instruction. Pass rates double the state average — during the hardest version of the test, when passing required a 150, not 145. I know this test inside and out. I know how to get you through it.

State avg pass rate — 2014, when passing required 150
130+Students tracked in original diagnostic research

In 2014, the GED was overhauled — difficulty jumped, the test went computer-only, and the passing threshold was set at 150 per subject. Florida's statewide completions collapsed from 1,800 in the final six months of the old test to 90 in the first six months of the new one, across 80 programs statewide. My pass rate during that window was in the mid-40s, against a statewide average of 22%. The majority of those 90 completions came from my classroom.

That's not a credential from a university. It's a result from the hardest conditions the test has ever been administered under. That's the difference.

All five GED subjects.
All levels.

The GED covers four subject areas. The HiSET splits reading and writing into separate tests — five total. I prep students for both, in every subject.

Mathematical Reasoning
Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, word problems. The section where reading comprehension matters most.
Reasoning Through Language Arts
Reading comprehension, extended response essay, grammar and usage. Strong foundation transfers to every other subject.
Science
Life science, physical science, earth science. Heavy emphasis on reading and interpreting data — not memorization.
Social Studies
Civics, history, economics, geography. Another reading-heavy section — extracting argument from primary sources.
HiSET Writing (separate)
The HiSET splits writing into its own scored subtest. Essay structure, argument development, mechanics.

Why reading is the
real GED skill.

After tracking 130+ students, I found that reading comprehension predicts GED math performance more reliably than any other factor. The math section is mostly word problems. Before you solve for x, you have to read the problem precisely enough to know what x actually is. Students who struggle with math often aren't struggling with math — they're struggling with reading the question.

This is why every student starts with a reading baseline. It tells me where the ceiling is before we touch a single equation. From there, I build a Dynamic Learning Profile — a document that tracks what you know, how you think, and what explanatory style works for you. Every session is planned around that profile, not a generic workbook.
